Link Building – The Realities
The SEO industry has boomed – and, so has the requirement for links. Link building for SEO dates back to the early 2000s, with links being a key factor even back then – why? because search engines weren’t overly complex back then, so link popularity was a much easier way of evaluating “potential quality” – the rationale = more links, more popular = likely a better website.
But, that was back then, now, in 2022, search engines that compete with Google have nearly all disappeared – and, Google itself, well, it’s advanced so much that the whole approach to link building has been shaken up.
What will you learn?
I’ll show you my approach to link evaluation, auditing and building – it’s the one I’ve used over and over again with great success. I spent years making mistakes with link acquisition (and it cost me a lot) – until, I flipped my process and learnt how to better evaluate the true link profile of a domain and how to address weakness / gaps / equity distribution and more.
Some of the key things I intend to teach/share:
- Where to start – the best places to focus your initial attention
- How to evaluate SERP and how to map out the importance of links
- How to understand potential link weight requirements and their influence
- How to conduct a full link audit before you do anything else
- How to understand the relationship between a link / link equity
- How to understand the types of links you need and acquisition rates
- Link velocity
- Link anchor text and distribution (inner pages vs root domain)
- How to uncover link spam, tiered links, PBNS
- White, Grey and Black Hat Links – the pros, the cons, the NO NOs
- Toxic links – are they really anything to worry about?
- Disavows
- and lots more
How to Shortern Time To Rank Factors (TTRF) – Scale Your SEO Strategy
It’s no secret – we all want faster ranking growth, more traffic – so we can make more money, generate more leads, drive more purchase/enquiry prospects.
Time to rank factors are key and important to understand – understand if links can help shorten time to rank, or whether your focal niche is also reliant on other factors over time.
It’s not always just about links – in the webinar, I’ll show you why and what else you can do.
Links Go So Much Deeper Than Tools Can Show
Links aren’t always about “what a tool” evaluates them to be. For example – you can assume that a low trust flow or DA/DR score is the sign of a weak domain – but, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Link quality metrics aren’t just about popularity, they’re about the quality of the site / content itself.
Weak domains can rank, can drive traffic and can have a large query profile behind them – there is more weight in this than popularity alone.
But, as with everything in SEO, you’ll want to look at a wider group of factors.
How to Better Plan your SEO Strategy with Links
SEO is complex – with hundreds of interconnecting factors – it can be a minefield to ascertain the value / weight in specific algorithm factors. We know for many niches that links play a key part in cementing trust. Historic link performance on a domain can ultimately shape forward progress – THIS IS A KEY FACTOR WHEN DELIVERING SEO – WHY? because ultimately, this could significantly alter time to rank.
10 years of poor quality link building, 8 years of link stagnancy – these things can impact time to rank – how do you detect and test this and what does this mean for your clients?
More Than Just DR, TF, CF, DA, LPS and Other Link Abbreviations
With the link industry riddled with spam – it’s become commonplace for people to sell links based on DR/DA etc. But the reality, these metrics in isolation are meaningless.
You can’t measure a links value by link popularity metrics alone.
In this webinar, we look at the relationship between links, metrics and their ACTUAL value vs perceived value.

What People Say
“We’ve used Daniel for link audits – we were blown away by the findings and onward guidance.”
We worked with Daniel on a link audit – we had been paying for a company to build our links – our internal SEO had orchestrated a few link building campaigns – however, after more than a year of investment, we saw little return.
We brought a link audit and let Daniel do his thing.
What he came back with was very detailed, very well put together. It turns out that a large portion of our links were niche edits and were of poor quality – we had also been paying a much higher rate per link than we should have. Daniel showed us link platforms where the links we had been paying £200+ per link for were just £50 or less.
Daniel advised us to pause our link building efforts and to start a new process of link earning. We were also pointed to Reboot for some digital PR.
Very thorough work – Daniel’s knowledge of SEO and links in general is exceptional – he’s very happy to demonstrate that via video – since, we’ve saved a lot of money and will no longer rely on unscrupulous vendors.
