SEO Power Sessions: TLDR

In this SEO power session – we cover a whole host of tips and tricks. We use one of our own neglected sites (scooter.guide) which at its peak was doing 5k Clicks per day but after a round of helpful content updates / product review updates we see clicks decline past 1k a day.

Looking at Search Console Click Performance Over Time

In this SEO power session – we take a look at the ailing traffic to scooter.guide – we look at the decline – most of which has been driven by sequential Google core updates namely product reviews and Google HCU updates.

We saw decline because Google favoured big publications and UGC over genuine review sites.

So – we look at this in more detail.

Setting Up A Crawl In Screaming Frog SEO Spider

In this part of the video – we look at setting up a crawl using Screaming Frog’s SEO spider. This is a desktop based crawler that allows for a significant amount of customisation.

Here we run through what this is – why it’s better and how much you can actually customise.

Setting Rendering Types

We cover a number of configurations – one important one being rendering which is especially important if you are crawling sites that utilise Javascript tech stacks or SPA’s.

This way we can actually crawl the rendered output.

We compare the differences between crawl types.

Setting Up Custom Extractions

Custom extractions are POWERFUL when it comes to building a crawl and extracting snippets of data that can be used for lots of different purposes. One such opportunity is using XPATH to extract content dates, authors, article data and more – which, in a blended click gap can give you super useful insights.
